MEINE LIEBE REPUBLIK

by Elisabeth Scharang

synopsis

A young journalist stumbles upon a web of wrongdoings, cover-ups and shame while re-examining the story of Nazi doctor Heinrich Gross and one of his victims, Friedrich Zawrel. Zawrel, who as a child barely escaped being euthanised by the Nazis, meets his tormentor - who has become a popular court expert - for a second time in 1975. A film which questions the will to uncover the truth in postwar Austria.
