SILENT SUMMER
by Nana Neul
synopsis
Kristine, an art historian, suddenly loses her voice after a successful auction. She retreats to her family’s house in the south of France. The villagers as well as the Germans who live there are surprised to see her after such a long time. That she can’t speak doesn’t seem to bother her old friends – just the opposite. Kristine gains a secret ally in Franck, the lover of her daughter Anna, who is evading her studies. But when her husband Herbert, a psychiatrist, shows up at the house, it becomes clear that their marriage is not in the best of shape. But there is also something else, something not uttered that has come between her and her friends. Kristine has to face up to something that happened in the village long, long ago …
