VARES: PRIVATE EYE

by Aleksi Mäkelä

synopsis

Jussi Vares is a private detective whose business is more often handled in a pub than in the office. Besides, this law school drop-out thinks that conventional rules are for those who lack imagination. Vares is a single man in midlife crisis who enjoys his beer and appreciates a pretty pair of eyes and legs when he sees one. This is a story of Vares following a criminal who´s cheated millions from his unfortunate (ex)colleagues. This criminal investigation takes Vares around Finland. There are several people who become involved and everybody has their own agenda. Greed and love are among their motives. Characters crossing Vares´ path include Eeva Sunila, a teacher and one of the first women to complete army training in order to become a sergeant in Finnish Army. Mikko Koitere, a police sergeant in the special unit against organized crime, who does not always follow the law by the book and a clever pair from the Finnish underworld, Tetsuo Sinkkonen and Munck.
