MATRIMONIO ALLE BAHAMAS

by Claudio Risi

synopsis

Valentina Colombo, winner of a scholarship for a year of postgraduate work at the University Miami, travels to the US with her father Cristoforo, who works as a taxi driver in Rome. On returning home, Cristoforo finds that his wife Rosy has taken in his brother-in-law Oscar, under house arrest for armed robbery, plus Oscar's girlfriend Lory. Back in Miami, Valentina falls in love with Bob, an Italian-American fellow student. When she meets Bob's father, rich stock broker Al Di Giacomo, and Bob's mother Patricia, a snob obsessed with shopping. Valentina worries about the drastic socio-economic differences between the two families. But Bob quickly reassures her by asking her to marry him. Valentina's family and friends in Rome are left speechless, especially on learning that they have all been invited to the Bahamas for the wedding, at Mr. Di Giacomo's expense…
