Rumle Hammerich

Born 1954, Denmark. Studied film in the US. Graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in direction.

He has directed for television in Sweden and Denmark. was appointed executive at the public broadcaster DR TV, and later appointed CEO at Nordisk Film Productions. His award-winning directorial debut, Otto is a Rhino (1983) is considered one of the best Danish children's film of the decade.

Hammerich's short film Kan du vissla Johanna? (1994) received Sweden's award for Best Children's Film of the Year, took a Golden Globe in Hollywood and was awarded in Berlin.

His Swedish feature The Premonition (1992) was honoured with Best Direction award in Montreal. Young Andersen (2005) enjoyed an extended festival run, bringing Best Director awards for Hammerich at Shanghai and Warsaw festivals, while his television version of Young Andersen received the prestigious US Emmy Award.
