(2007), Eric Guirado is about to start shooting in the Alps on his third feature, Greed.

The film is based on a news story that received intense media coverage, a quintuple murder that took place in April 2003 in Grand-Bornand. The cast includes Julie Depardieu (soon to be seen in Jacques Doillon’s Le Mariage à Trois [+see also:

), Lucien Jean-Baptiste (Meet the Elisabethz) and Belgian actor Jérémie Renier (who has just finished shooting François Ozon’s Potiche).

Co-written by Guirado and Isabelle Lazard, the film centres on Bruno and Marilyne (Renier and Depardieu), a young couple with two children. They leave their native region of northern France to pursue Marilyne’s dream of living in a chalet in the mountains.

Before they arrive, they arrange to rent a chalet from estate agent and property developer, Patrick (Jean-Baptiste). When they get there, work on the property isn’t finished; so Patrick puts them up temporarily in another chalet, which is much more luxurious than expected.

Very affable, despite being a bit of a crook, Patrick gladly offers round the champagne and likes to show off his big SUV, his beautiful chalet, and his wife Gladys (Lamy), a perfect mother of three children. Bruno and Marilyne thus start to experience feelings of envy and frustration, leading them to commit the worst.

Produced by Thomas Anargyros and Edouard de Vesinne for Incognita Films, Greed has co-production support from Rhône-Alpes Cinéma and an advance on receipts from the National Film and Moving Image Centre (CNC).

Shooting will take place in Méribel. According to our sources, French distribution will be handled by UGC and international sales by TF1 International.
