Finely acted by Gérard Depardieu and Gisèle Casadesus, the film is in the same vein as previous works by a seasoned director who is not afraid of feel-good movies and has always found an audience (1.3m admissions for Conversations with My Gardener [+see also:

Finally, behind the scenes, serious controversy is dividing DIRE (United European Independent Distributors) and the FNCF (National Federation of French Cinemas) on the issue of the increasing number of theatrical screenings of non-cinematic content. Distributors consider these a major threat (see news), while exhibitors just see them as one-off events and are calling above all for a better staggering of film releases throughout the year.
