Goodbye Corso Salani, the voice of Europe

Actor and director Corso Salani died yesterday evening at the age of 48. The cause of death is cardiac arrest. At the time, the Florence native was on the coast near Rome with his wife Margherita.

Salani had just completed filming on a docu-fiction on work-related deaths entitled I Casi della Vita, produced by Kairos Film.

As an actor, Salani came to attention in 1991 in Marco Risi’s Il muro di gomma. His last performance was in last year’s Black Sea [+see also:

Salani’s directorial debut came in 1989 with the feature documentary The Voice of Europe, divided into three episodes. Salani’s filmography includes Gli Ultimi Giorni, Cono Sur, Personal Mail, Palabras, Tre donne in Europa and Confini d’Europa, the recent series produced by Vivo Film in collaboration with RAI 3 Fuori orario. Written with his long-time screenwriter Monica Rametta, Salani’s films were a blend of documentary and fiction that centred on traveling, borders in Europe and beyond and observations of reality.
