Tine Klint’s sales outfit LevelK has picked up world distribution rights on the fully-animated 3D Danish film Ronal the Barbarian, which will be introduced to world buyers at the upcoming American Film Market in Los Angeles (November 3-10).

The project is directed by Thorbjørn Christoffersen and Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen (Terkel in Trouble [+see also:

Co-scripted by the directors and Lipski, Ronal is the story of a young barbarian with low self-esteem, the opposite of all the muscular barbarians in his village. He's a real wuss. However, when the evil Lord Volcazar raids the village and abducts every living barbarian, responsibility for the tribe's survival falls on his scrawny shoulders.

Danish actors Lars Mikkelsen, Preben Kristensen and Gitte Nielsen will lend their voices to the Danish film, and an English-language version will be introduced at the AFM for the international market.

Ronal the Barbarian is co-produced by TV2 Denmark and received support from the Danish Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Nordisk Film will handle the Danish theatrical release in September 2011.

At the AFM, Klint will also bring two recent acquisitions – Turkish film The Voice by Umit Unal, and Suicide Room by Poland’s Jan Komasa – as well as Me and My Umbrella, the feature debut of Brazilian filmmaker Toni Vanzolini, which opened domestically last week on over 100 screens via 20th Century Fox.
