by Turkish director Semih Kaplanoğlu, winner of the Golden Bear at the 2010 Berlinale. The festival runs through November 21.

The event dedicated to Mediterranean cinema offers over 100 films, many of which will be presented by their directors. This year’s guest of honour countries are Spain and Lebanon, with focuses also on France, Morocco, Turkey and Belgium.

The festival features a new section, Cinema of the Present-New Europe, that explores the forms and poetics of cinema vérité, through the theme of the border, to highlight the efforts of the European Community to support cultural integration through audiovisual programmes as well, such as Eurimages, the MEDIA Programme and the Lux Prize, of which will be shown various films, and in particular the three finalists.
