While his forthcoming film, Woman In Love, is still in post-production (planned for release this winter – see news), prolific director Detlev Buck is already preparing his next project, a 3D adaptation of young German-Austrian author Daniel Kehlmann’s novel Measuring the World.

Published in 2005, this fictionalised biography enjoyed tremendous critical and popular success. It looks at the lives of explorer Alexander von Humboldt and mathematician-astronomer Carl Friedrich Gauss and how they met.

In Germany, the book sold over 1.4m copies and was top of German newspaper Der Spiegel’s best-seller list for 37 weeks. The New York Times ranked it second in its best international sales list of books for 2006.

Buck is penning the script. It is not yet known who will star or when the film will be released.
