The Netherlands Film Fund streamlined

Last week, the Netherlands Film Fund not only launched its new-look website but also revamped and further simplified its funding rules.

For the past 18 months, the Netherlands Film Fund has worked hard to reorganise and crystallise its sometimes labyrinthine funding system, with the goal of making it sharper, more transparent and easier to use.

The Fund also launches a new black-and-white logo as well as a new (Dutch) name, which is now officially changed from “Het Nederlands Fonds voor de Film” to the much shorter (and already often used) “Nederlands Filmfonds”.

As of June 16, applicants for funding will have to apply for aid in one of seven specific sectors (down from 24). The sectors are grouped together in three major groups that follow the life cycle of most film projects: Development, production and distribution.

The “film activities” regulation encompasses activities such as film festivals, cinemas, national and international film meetings, publications and studies.

As of August 10, applications for aid and grants can also be done electronically, which should make the process easier for the entire sector. The fund’s website also has an improved search function.
