, has just scooped two awards at Karlovy Vary (see film review), is already working on a new project: an adaptation of best-selling novel Der Turm ("The Tower"), which earned East German doctor-writer Uwe Tellkamp the German Book Prize 2008.

Der Turm will describe the last seven years of the GDR before the fall of the wall in the bourgeois setting of a residential area in Dresden. Produced by teamWorx, the project has received €400,000 in backing from the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg regional fund. It is not yet known when shooting will take place or when the film is scheduled for release.
