Joe Wright steers star studded Anna Karenina

British director Joe Wright (pictured) will commence principal photography in September at U.K. and Russian locations for Leo Tolstoy’s epic romance Anna Karenina, adapted for the screen by Oscar-winning writer Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare In Love).

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce the Working Title production alongside Paul Webster. Universal Pictures International will distribute the movie internationally, in the second half of 2012.

Tolstoy’s classic novel has been adapted 24 times earlier for film and television.
