The evening will start at 8 pm at the Cinéma des Cinéastes with the premiere of Oslo, August 31st, followed by a debate with its director. The film was unveiled at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and was recently selected to take part in Sundance. It is due out in France on February 29, distributed by Memento Films Distribution.

Italian director Emanuele Crialese will follow the Norwegian director on March 13, with a presentation of his film Terraferma [+see also:

, which received the Special Jury Award at the last Mostra in Venice, and will be released in France on March 14 by Bellissima Films.

During these evenings, the ARP, the SAA, and the SACD seek to stimulate cultural exchange between France and other European countries through the artistic exploration of screened fims, but also by analysing the specificities of the Old Continent’s different cinematographic industries, including funding and support for production, distribution, and co-production.

The ARP, that counts among its members Englishman Stephen Frears, the Roman Cristian Mungiu, or even the Belgians Jaco van Dormael, and Frédéric Sojcher, last year stepped up its exchanges with its European counterparts. After meeting the Italians from 100Autori, the British from PACT and Directors UK, the Belgians from the UPFF and the Pro Spère association, the association is currently networking with Spain, Denmark, and Poland.

The ARP last year initiated a petition for the defense of the European Union’s MEDIA Programme, gathering 2,000 signatures from professionals in 43 countries, and met with President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and European commissioner Androulla Vassiliou to discuss it. In 2011, the ARP also helped to organise the 20th anniversary celebration of the MEDIA Programme along with the Cannes Film Festival, and organised a debate on improving the distribution of European cinema at the Rencontres Cinématographiques in Dijon (read more).
