Pascal Diot presents the Venice Film Market to Italian exhibitors

- In Riccione, the head of the new market presented the new project; much desired by the new Festival director, Alberto Barbera

“It was absurd that a festival such as The Venice Film Festival did not have a market”. Pascal Diot, head of the newborn Venice Film Market, presented the project yesterday to the exhibitors who had come to the Professional summer days – Ciné of Riccione. Diot, nominated in March as the new artistic director of Alberto Barbera’s festival, is taking on this challenge with great energy: “We have gotten strong interest on the part of operators from the festival in Berlin as well as Cannes. We will invite 100 buyers and sellers that most are representative of the world’s cinema industry. To allow operators to go to the Toronto Film Festival (6-16 September), the Venice Film Market will be held from the 30th of August to the 3rd of September”.

Designated areas of the Hotel Excelsior will be arranged for meetings, business and conferences on relevant topics, explained Diot. The Digital Video Library, created in partnership with Expo Venice, will allow for screenings of the films presented at the festival. For buyers there will be organized exclusive projections of promo-reels and trailers of films on set.
