(2012), José Antonio Félez’s production company Atípica Films is now back with two new feature film projects from the same directors, Daniel Sánchez Arévalo and Alberto Rodríguez (photo). Atípica Films, an almost direct heir of Félez’ previous production company Tesela Films, has become known for its great skill in combining good auteur cinema with a clear desire to please the public. This successful formula is now to be applied to Sánchez Arévalo’s La gran familia española (lit. “The great Spanish family”) and Rodríguez’ El espía de las mil caras (lit. “The spy of a thousand faces”).

The first to start shooting (from August 20 around Madrid) will be Sánchez Arévalo’s comedy. Like for Cousinhood, Atípica will co-produce the film with Mod Producciones, and this time with Antena 3 Films, one of the most active production companies for comedies. Although its cast is still to be confirmed, La gran familia española will be about a wedding set around the time of the South Africa World Cup football final, in which Spain played Holland. On this day of collective catharsis, while the country comes to a standstill, a family of five brothers with biblical names, Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, and Ephraim, will have to play the most important game of their lives. Warner Bros Spain is to release the film in Spain in 2013. An international sales agent has not yet been confirmed for the film, but negotiations are said to be at an advanced stage.

At the beginning of 2013, shooting will start for El espía de las mil caras, a film that Atípica Films is set to co-produce with Zeta Cinema. The screenplay, written by the director with Rafael Cobos, tells the story of charismatic spy Antonio Paesa. As with Familia, it will be distributed in Spain by Warner Bros Spain.
