- At a press conference in Cologne tomorrow (September 20), Danish director Lars von Trier will pose for photographers, then leave producer Louise Vesth and cast to answer journalists' questions

"Lars is a complete gentleman - he is patient and understanding, and that makes an actor want to deliver everything he has to the material," said US actor Christian Slater, who has joined the cast for Danish director Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, which is currently shooting in Cologne, Germany.

Denmark's Zentropa Entertainments will host a press conference about the production in Cologne tomorrow (September 20), but the director himself is expected only to stay for 15 minutes or so to pose for photographers.

Instead he will leave his Danish producer Louise Vesth (who also produced Melancholia) and members of the cast, including French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg and Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, to answer questions from journalists.

Credited with such titles as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), True Romance (1993), Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), Slater is the latest newcomer to von Trier's chronicles of a woman's erotic journey from birth to the age of 50.

"It's lovely for an actor a few times in your career to work on a truly special project with a director, who really understands his stuff, and who is able to convey so concisely what he wants," explained Slater, who will play the father of Joe the nymphomaniac (Gainsbourg).
