- An electronic card will enable holders to see any film being shown in theatres

Starting on January 1, 2013, an electronic card will enable students to go to the cinema Monday through Wednesday with a 40% discount on the full price ticket. The initiative was presented at the beginning of December in Sorrento during the Professional Days. It was the fruit of a collaboration between the university and research and culture ministries, together with associations from within the film industry.

The "Carta dello Studente - Io Studio"  (literally: student card – I study) will give students in the secondary school system access to a series of cultural initiatives, including cinema. Around 2.5 million students should be touched by the measure, in a context where image culture is becoming less and less popular. The card will be activated by students directly if over-18, underage students will need parents to take appropriate measures.

“It will be valid for whatever film,” ANEC president Lionello Cerri said. "A website will be set up by the Education Ministry dedicated to the initiative including information on all films.”

ANEC is also working on an anti-piracy campaign in schools which will seek to raise awareness about the issue and its relation to mafia. The campaign will be launched together with cultural association Libera. "An effort to raise awareness for those who think that downloading is not a crime.”
