Hungarian cinema enters a new Cycle
- Market premieres for Zoltán Sóstai’s film and In The Name of Sherlock Holmes. Plus several promising titles in pre-sales
While the short film Soft Rain (Lágy esö) by the promising director Dénes Nagy, to be screened in the Directors' Fortnight, is the only Hungarian film selected for the 66th Cannes Film Festival (from May 15th to 26th, 2013), Magyar cinema will be well represented at the Film Market with several promising titles.
The Austrian company Eastwest Filmdistribution will present the market premiere of Cycle by Zoltán Sóstai, a suspense movie in which a failed astronaut wakes up on a roof, surrounded by a deadly fog from which he tries to escape, wondering if he is in the real world or in a dream.
A market premiere also for the Hungarian National Film Fund which will unveil In The Name of Sherlock Holmes by Zsolt Bernáth: the tale of two young Hungarian fans of the famous British detective who investigate the disappearance of children in their small town. It is also worth mentioning that the Hungarian National Film Fund’s line-up also features the post-production titles Heavenly Shift by Márk Bodzsár (article) and Liza the Fox Fairy [+see also:

The German international sales company M-Appeal has announced the arrival of Land of Storms by Adam Csaszi (news) in its line-up, a first feature film in post-production with Andras Sutö, German actor Sebastian Urzendowsky and Adam Varga, in a love triangle mixing professional football and homosexuality.
The German company The Match Factory will probably take advantage of the spotlights focused on Cannes to officialise the presence of White God in their line-up (currently filming - article) by Kornel Mundruczo (in competition in Cannes in 2008 and 2010).
The production company Mirage Film Studio, managed by Andrea Taschler (Producer on the Move 2013 in the European Film Promotion – interview), will announce the start of the pre-production phase of the modern western Mirage by Szalbocs Hajdu (news) with Isaach de Bankolé, Orsolya Torok-Illyes and Ravzan Vasilescu in the cast, coproduced by Filmpartners and MPhilms. Two other projects undergoing development for Mirage Film Studio are also worth noting: Heartsnatcher by Pater Sparrow and Uhu by Gyorgy Mor Karapti.
