Dynamic agents at the SOFA

As part of the 13th T-Mobile New Horizons International Festival in Wroclaw, a workshop dedicated to agents working in the cinema field will bring together for the very first time ten participants from eastern and central Europe in the Polish city. This training, named School of Film Agents, or SOFA, will last two weeks (August 9 – 30).

The names of the ten agents who were chosen for the first edition were announced during a press conference by Nikolaj Nikitin, the instigator of SOFA, and Dieter Kosslick, the charismatic director of the Berlin Film Festival. The participants represent Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and the Ukraine.

Amongst the speakers at the workshop, Claudia Dillmann (German Cinema Institute) will be present, as well as Fatima Djoumer (Europa Cinemas), Marion Döring (European Film Academy), Karel Och (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival), Thorsten Ritter (Beta Cinema) and Renate Rose (European Film Promotion). The training’s supervisors are Oliver Baumgarten (Filmplus) and Ewa Puszczynska (Opus Film). Some parts of the workshop will be open to the public.

The SOFA project is organized by Filmplus UG in cooperation with the city of Wroclaw, the Polish Film Institute and the New Horizons Association. The Polish MEDIA Desk is also a partner.
