. The drama is written by Vasilev and produced by Konstantin Burov, through his 100Films production company. The Ukrainian National Film Archive, represented by Danil Vulizkii, is co-producing.

Snow follows two half-brothers and their respective sons, who are drawn down a path of robbery and fraud. “The lead character is one of the sons, and the film is narrated from his point of view. He constantly turns back to his memories, and as the story unfolds, the connection between past and present becomes obvious. This leads to an understanding of the harsh and sometimes even brutal relationships between brothers, fathers and sons,” says the director, noting that Snow will explore “choice, betrayal and forgiveness”.

Plamen Velikov plays the lead. On the film’s poster, he will be accompanied by Bulgarians Krassimir Dokov and Ovanes Torosian, and Ukrainian actor Vladimir Yamnenko. Konstantin Asenov plays the very young version of the main character.

The film was shot in 2013 and 2014, over five weeks, as three different seasons were needed for the story. The main location was Vasilev’s hometown, Pernik, located near Sofia.

Currently waiting to get started on the film’s sound design and colour grading, Vasilev says post-production will be complete “in a couple of months”. As yet, there is no decision regarding Snow’s domestic release.
