The build-up to the ceremony indicated that Talya Lavie's Zero Motivation, a comedy about female soldiers, was going to win the nomination for the Oscar. The film won six awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay for Lavie, Best Editing, Best Music, Best Casting and Best Actress, for Dana Ivgy.

The Elkabetz siblings were exhausted and overwhelmed to win out in the end in such a way, and Ronit Elkabetz said at the ceremony, “Apart from being a personal prize, for me this is the prize of the art and the victory of the spirit of women in Israel who are being refused a divorce from their husbands and have unbearable lives because of it. Gett also won a Best Supporting Actor Award for Sasson Gabai for his performance as a rabbi representing a man who refuses to grant his wife a divorce.

Israeli actress Ivgy had a very impressive night, winning the Award for Best Actress for her performance in Zero Motivation, and also a Best Supporting Actress Award for Next to Her. Veteran actor Ze'ev Revach won the Best Actor Award for The Farewell Party [+see also:
