Actors Giorgio Pasotti, Giuliana De Sio and Edoardo Leo and French directors Justine Triet and Arthur Harari will host the events of the XVI edition of the Naples Film Festival 2014 opening at the Vittoria cinema and closing at the Metropolitan. The Neapolitan festival will take place from 29 September to 8 October, presenting a series of events accompanied also by lessons from big screen stars who will tell Neapolitan students about how they make movies in the “Parole di cinema” section. ). Also on the programme is an evening devoted to the cinema of Massimo Troisi and to his Nothing left to do but cry, with actors and film staff.

In addition, this year the festival, directed by Davide Azzolini and Mario Violini, presents the best of youth cinema in Europe and Campania in its various competitions. New cinema from Eastern Europe dominates in this year’s selection of the Competition Europe & the Mediterranean with works which will be shown at  the headquarters of the Institut Francais in Naples. a film by German director André Erkau. Coming from Russia, on the other hand, is the story told in Mayor by director Yuri Bykov. In Male Stluzki (Little Crushes) [+see also:

, just released in Poland, two directors Aleksandra Gowin and Ireneusz Grzyb tell the tale of three women who live together and who run a small company specialized in cleaning apartments. Finally, a Franco-Georgian co-production, Dzma(Brother) by Thierry Grenade and Teona Mghvdeladze. The action takes place in the 90s in a Tbilisi that is profoundly changed following the independence of Georgia. 

Eighteen documentaries are competing in the Schermo Napoli Doc section, which will be hosted by the Pan(Palace of the Arts in Naples).Worth noting, then, in the tributes of this edition: 50 years since the making of the masterpiece The Gospel according to Matthew by Pier Paolo Pasolini in which pianist Stefano Battaglia accompanies on piano the images in the movie with a new jazz-style soundtrack.
