The Film Market of the 68th Festival de Cannes has got off to a great start, with the French international sales agents in particular having whipped out a number of new announcements. Following an initial wave just before the opening (read the news), a new flurry has now been made public. Here is a brief summary.

EuropaCorp has begun pre-sales for and is co-producing Escobar, a biopic directed by Fernando León de Aranoa, focusing on the notorious Colombian trafficker, which will star Spaniards Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, and will be shot in the second half of 2015.

by Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn (read the news – currently being shot, starring Elle Fanning, Keanu Reeves and Christina Hendricks) all over the world.

Le Pacte will co-produce the science-fiction project The Untamed by Mexican filmmaker Amat Ascalante (winner of the Best Director Award at Cannes in 2013 with Heli), which will begin shooting at the end of the year. NDM is kicking off the pre-sales, and the film staged mainly by Mexico will also be co-produced by Denmark and Norway.
