Lisbon Docs launches new development workshop

The 16th Lisbon Docs is launching a new development workshop named The Lab, set to take place on 20-21 July, as a kind of prelude to the main Lisbon Docs forum, which will be held from 10-15 October, in parallel with the DocLisboa Film Festival.

The Lab’s tutors include director Salomé Lamas (No Man’s Land [+see also:

), producer Joao Matos (Terratreme Filmes) and European Documentary Network (EDN) director Paul Pauwels. Targeted at film students and professionals, the workshop will be divided into two intense sections focused on research techniques and the development of documentary projects. Potential participants may apply until 30 June by emailing a presentation of their projects and any research conducted so far to lisbondocs@apordoc.org.

The deadline for the main October gathering is 15 August. The five-day training schedule includes workshops with national and international tutors followed by public pitching sessions in front of a jury comprising established film and TV professionals. Applications – to be sent to lisbondocs@apordoc.org – must include a presentation of a maximum of two pages (including a synopsis, the state of development, the financial set-up and contacts) as well as visual materials (stills, trailers, etc).
