Following the announcement at Cannes, Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore is now getting stuck into The Sight of Music, a 110-minute documentary about another Oscar winner, Ennio Morricone. The master of the arthouse score and his lesser-known aspects will be portrayed through archive film clips, interviews and fictional reconstructions of episodes that have peppered the artistic and personal journey of the great composer.

An artistic partnership has existed between Morricone and Tornatore since 1988, when the maestro composed the soundtrack to Cinema Paradiso, and this alliance has continued all the way until The Best Offer [+see also:

The movie, which has a budget of €2.7 million, is being co-produced by Piano B Produzioni, Tornatore’s own company, together with Bobby Păunescu, for Mandragora Group, which comprises the Romanian, French and US subsidiaries of Mandragora Movies. Păunescu told Film New Europe that he hopes to have the film ready in time for it to be selected for the next Cannes Film Festival in May 2016.
