The 59th British Film Institute (BFI) London Film Festival (7-18 October) will close with Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs [+see also:

. Based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography, and written by Aaron Sorkin, the film spans 14 years between 1984 and 1998 and is built around three product launches – the Macintosh in 1984, the NeXT ‘Cube’ in 1988 and the iMac in 1998. Michael Fassbender plays the title role and the cast includes Kate Winslet, Jeff Daniels and Seth Rogen. This is the third Boyle film to close the festival after Slumdog Millionaire [+see also:

(2010). Boyle, Fassbender and Winslet are expected to attend the screening, which will be the film’s European premiere.

Boyle said, “If London was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution then San Francisco is the Bethlehem of the digital one. We had a brilliant time making this movie in Silicon Valley and I hope Londoners will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the modern world.”

The producers are Mark Gordon, Guymon Casady, Scott Rudin, Boyle, and Christian ColsonUniversal Pictures will release the film in cinemas across UK and Ireland on 13 November.

The full festival programme will be revealed on 1 September.
