Sam, the protagonist of Slam, is being played by Ludovico Tersigni, who trained in Cinecittà’s Cinecity skatepark at length to learn the basics of skateboarding; Barbara Ramella plays Alice, who shares the experience of being a parent at the age of 16 with Sam. This will be the first time that either of the young actors plays the lead in a film. Sam’s parents will be played by Jasmine Trinca and Luca Marinelli, whilst Alice’s will be brought to life by Pietro Ragusa and Fiorenza Tessari.

Shooting for the film, which was written by Andrea Molaioli himself with Francesco Bruni and Ludovica Rampoldi and is being produced by Indigo Film with Rai Cinema, will continue in Rome until the beginning of December. The film is scheduled for release in autumn 2016.

In the film, the skatepark becomes the place where our young protagonist, Sam, feels free and indulges his passion for this sport, which for him, is well and truly a way of life (just like it is for the kids that come here – the only public skatepark in the capital – and appear in the film).

To mark the occasion, production company Indigo Film, with the financial support of DC Shoes and in agreement with the municipality of Rome and the kids that go there, redeveloped and improved the Cinecity Skatepark, sprucing it up, making it bigger and installing new ‘skateable’ ramps. On 4 November, when filming in this location ended, the skatepark was given back to the city and the kids that go there to practise their sport on a daily basis.
