Written by the director together with Cécile Rouaud, the story hinges on Sylvie’s (played by Isabelle Carré) son, Felipe, who was abducted at the age of five by his father, Pablo. Four years and a few hiccups by social services later, thanks to Pablo’s death and the work of a private detective, Sylvie has finally picked up Felipe’s trace in the Uruguayan countryside, Pablo’s home country. Mehdi (Ramzy Bédia) is a social worker who has lost his faith in his job and has been so moved by Sylvie’s struggle that he has decided to leave everything to help her. Together, they set out to Uruguay in order to kidnap the child and take him back to France.

Produced by Bertrand Faivre for Le Bureau, A Life Elsewhere is being co-produced by Uruguayan outfit Mutante Cine. Having been pre-purchased by OCS and TV5, the feature is also being backed by Cofinova and Film Factory. The 28-day shoot will take place in France and Uruguay. Distribution in French theatres will be handled by Haut et Court, while its international sales are being managed by The Bureau Sales.

Le Bureau will soon see two of its productions hit screens: Sky [+see also:
