Fourteen films to battle it out in the New Directors section of San Sebastián

Not only does the San Sebastián Film Festival’s (16-24 September) New Directors section help in discovering up-and-coming talents through its selection of filmmakers invited to present their first or second features, but it also rewards the best film to the tune of €50,000, a sum destined for its director and Spanish distributor. This year, the sidebar – which throughout its long and varied history has welcomed a plethora of names such as Pedro Almodóvar, Iván Zulueta and Olivier Assayas – is presenting 14 films, nine of which are European: standing out among them is the Spanish title María (y los demás) [+see also:
