Four titles selected for the second edition of "Shoot The Book" at the Toronto Film Festival
- During the next edition of the TIFF, four French publishers will be invited to present the gems in their catalogues to North American cinema professionals, at TIFF Bell Lightbox in the prestigious Malaparte venue
Shoot the Book! Toronto is an event created for film industry professionals, producers, directors and screenwriters in search of original content. Over the course of a pitch session, four French publishers will each present a book with great potential for cinematographic adaptation, and for wich the film and TV Rights are available. The presented titles have been handpicked by a jury from a total selection of twenty-seven works proposed by fifteen of the greatest French publishers.
After deliberating on Thursday, June 16th 2016, Canadian producers Jennifer Jonas and Tony Cianciotta, screenwriter and director Michael McGowan, Danish Vanidy, head of marketing for Mongrel Media, Hayet Benkara, programmer for TIFF Studio and the members of the cultural service of the French Consulate of Toronto selected the four following books:
Noah’s Child by Eric-Emmanuel Schimmt, published by Albin Michel
French Rhapsody by Antoine Laurain, published by Flammarion
Little Grey Lies by Heidi Kaddour, published by Galimard
Arab Jazz by Karim Miské published by Editions Viviene Hamy
From the page to the screen, Shoot The Book! takes an original approach to the relationship between the two industries. It is also an exclusive opportunity for proffesionals to be the first to Discovery the texts that will become the films of tomorrrow.
