The Sarajevo Film Festival has announced that Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi will be the president of its Competition Programme - Feature Film jury at its 24th edition.

Sarajevo audiences will have a chance to see Farhadi’s latest film, Everybody Knows [+see also:

, which opened this year's Cannes Film Festival and stars Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, at the 3,000-seat Open Air venue.

Farhadi's first feature, Dancing in the Dust, won two awards at the 25th Moscow Film Festival. However, it was his fourth film, About Elly, that brought him international fame after it won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 2007 Berlinale. 

With his next film, A Separation, he won the Golden Bear at the 2010 Berlinale, as well as two Silver Bears for the two main actors. A Separation went on to win Best Foreign-language Film Awards at the Golden Globes, Césars and Oscars.

, his first French-language film, which garnered Berenice Bejo the Best Actress Award at Cannes in 2013. 

In 2015, Farhadi returned to Iran to make The Salesman [+see also:

and won Best Screenplay, again at Cannes, while lead actor Shahab Hosseini picked up the Best Actor Award. For this movie, Farhadi won his second Best Foreign-language Film Academy Award.

This year, the Sarajevo Film Festival is set to run from 10-17 August.
