The Directors Guild of Slovenia has announced that the country's candidate for the Best Foreign-language Film Academy Award is Ivan [+see also:

The drama-thriller won eight awards at last year's Festival of Slovenian Film in Portorož, including Best Film, Director, Screenplay and Lead Actress, and had its international premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It went on to win prizes at the LET'S CEE Film Festival and the Avanca Film Festival.

The lead actress, Maruša Majer, has been universally praised for her role and won a Golden Arena for Best Actress at the Pula Film Festival, in the minority co-production category.

The two other candidates submitted to the committee of the Directors Guild were Rok Biček's documentary The Family [+see also:
