Penned by the director and Nicolas Pleskof (Murder Party), the story revolves around Katia Reiter who is 50 years old and who directs the Guadeloupe Volcano Observatory. A passionate volcanologist,  she’s waved goodbye to the idea of one day fulfilling her professional dream of managing a major eruption. But she hadn’t appreciated the unpredictable nature of the Soufrière... or of young volcanologist Aimé Lubin.

Magma is produced by Isabelle Madelaine on behalf of Dharamsala and by Émilie Tisné for Darius Films. The movie is pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+ and TMC and also enjoys support from the CNC – in the form of an advance on receipts – as well as from the SOFICA companies Indéfilms and Cinéaxe. The six-week film-shoot unfolded over six weeks in Guadeloupe, while distribution in France and international sales will be entrusted to Pyramide.

For the record, Dharamsala and Darius Films previously joined forces to produce Alice Winocour’s three most recent feature films, notably Paris Memories [+see also:
