AWARDS Italy

Nominations for the Nastri d'Argento

by

An experienced director Gianni Amelio versus a young emerging one, Paolo Sorrentino. On the one hand, a stormy version of the old father-son conflict. On the other, a clever and sophisticated thriller.
On the 4th of February, these two much-acclaimed films le chiavi da casa (The Keys to Home) e Le conseguenze dell'amore (The consequences of Love) will compete in most of the categories of the Nastri d'Argento Awards, selected every year by the Union of the Italian Cinema Journalists
These two films have received no less than 8 nominations each for the prestigious award. This year the ceremony has not only moved from Taormina in Sicily to Rome, but it has also changed dates. Next to the leaders, we find other interesting nominees: six nominations went to, Primo amore (First Love) by Matteo Garrone and to Sergio Castellitto's Non ti muovere (Don't Move); Davide Ferrario's Dopo mezzanotte (After Midnight) got five nominations; four nominations went to Lavorare con lentezza (Work Slowly) by Guido Chiesa, as well as to L'amore ritorna (Love Returns) by Sergio Rubini.
