Bille August strong Danish come back

by

Bille August’s thriller Return To Sender, the director’s come-back to Danish filmmaking in almost 20 years, is doing brisk business in Denmark, taking the fourth position at the local chart with a total of 50,164 admissions since its June 24th release.

The Danish born director hadn’t indeed made a film in his homeland since the 1988 Oscar winning film Pelle The Conqueror. His new English language film Return To Sender is an international co-production between Denmark, Canada, the UK and the US produced by Return to Sender ApS and Moviefan Scandinavia in Denmark, partly shot in Copenhagen and in Oklahoma, USA.
Based on a script by the James Bond team of screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the film is a Death Row thriller starring Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) and Aidan Quinn (Legends Of The Fall). Its world premiere was at the last Toronto Film Festival and its European premiere at the Brussels International Festival of Fantastic Film last February. The film is sold internationally by Intandem Films and DNC Entertainment will soon release it in Italy. Moviefan Scandinavia’s managing director and producer of Return To Sender Michael Lunderskov will team up with Bille August again on his next project Without Apparent Motive, a murder mystery written by Eric Blackeney.
