Fragile opens and Gambit in competition at Sarrebruck

Garlanded with the Swiss Cinema Prize for Best Supporting role last Wednesday attributed to Marthe Keller, Fragile (Bord Cadre Films, Geneva) was chosen to kick-off the 27th Max Ophüls Prize at Sarrebruck (23 - 29 January). Filmmaker Laurent Nègre, who made his first feature, and his producer Dan Wechsler will be present at the opening of the festival.

The competition also welcomes the documentary Gambit (Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) by Sabine Gisiger, already a winner at the Locarno and Duisburg festivals. Five other features, selected in the parallel sections, reinforce the Swiss presence at the Max Ophüls Awards: The Giant Buddhas by Christian Frei (Christian Frei Filmproduktionen, Zurich), winner of the Silver Dove at the Leipzig Festival, Tout un hiver sans feu by Greg Zglinski (CAB Productions, Lausanne), Le monde à l’envers by Rolando Colla (Peacock Film, Zurich) – winner in 2003 at Sarrebruck for Oltre il confine – and also the co-productions Spiele Leben [+see also:
