Top Guldbagge awards to Nina’s Journey

by

The feature debut of Lena Einhorn Nina’s Journey was the surprise winner at last night’s Swedish Oscar ceremony or Guldbagge Awards. Einholm’s Swedish-Polish co-production took two major awards for Best Film and Best Script away from the most nominated film Mouth to Mouth by Björn Runge which ended up with a Best Supporting Actor Award for Magnus Krepper.

Written by Lena Einholm and based on her own mother’s experience at the Warsaw Ghetto during WW2, Nina’s Journey had just won the Audience Award over the weekend at the Göteborg Film Festival and the recognition of Einholm’s talent by its peers at the Guldbagge ceremony held at Göteborg’s Opera will give a welcome push to the film’s potential international sales in Berlin, under the aegisof Non Stop Sales.
During last night’s very smooth event presided over by actress Lena Endre, another surprise came with the Guldbagge award for Best Director handed out to Ulf Malmros for his comedy God Save The King which also won Best Costume Design, while the public favourite and Swedish Oscar possible candidate for Best Foreign Language Film, Zozo [+see also:
