Dalecarlians follow-up

Maria Blom has just started filming Nina Frisk, her second feature following her acclaimed debut Dalecarlians [+see also:

(read Focus), in and around Stockholm. The film will be the last of three films about singles, which started with Fishy, a ‘test’ film made before Dalecarlians for Memfis Film, Blom’s regular production company, but never released theatrically.

Blom has hired Dalecarlians lead Sofia Helin for her new romantic comedy, set in the airline industry. Helin plays a flight attendant who loves her job and leads a very exciting life at work. However, in private, she has difficult relationships with her mother (Gunilla Nyroos) and her brother (Sven Ahlström). One day, she finally finds true love in Marcus (Daniel Götschenhjelm). The fictitious characters are based on various people the filmmaker met when she was promoting Dalecarlians around the world in 2005.

Dalecarlians was Sweden’s biggest hit in 2005 with over 800,000 admissions and three Guldbagge Awards (Swedish Oscars) in 2004, including Best Film and Best Screenplay. It was sold internationally by Trust Film Sales.
