The Taviani brothers depict Armenian genocide

Paolo and Vittorio Taviani will take part in the next edition of the Berlin Film Festival in the Berlinale Special section with The Farm of the Skylarks [+see also:

(La masseria delle allodole), based on the eponymous novel by Antonia Aslan.

The film portrays the genocide of the Armenians through the story of an Armenian family that restores a farm in order to welcome the arrival of relatives who had moved to Italy. However, they will never see their relatives as they get caught in the genocide carried out by the Turks during WWI.

Produced by Grazia Volpi for Ager Tre, with a contribution from the Ministry of Culture, the €9.7m film was co-produced by Spain (Sagrera TV), Belgium (Nimar Studios) and France (Flach Film and France 2 Cinéma) and with €650,000 in support from Eurimages.

The film will be distributed by 01 Distribution in Italy and by UGC in France.
