Cartoon Movie turns 10

The tenth edition of Cartoon Movie (March 5-7) opens today at the legendary Babelsberg Studios in Potsdam.

This forum for animation professionals – organised by the European Association of Animation Film – will present 48 projects, including 10 completed films, 10 in production, 12 in development and 16 in the conception phase.

This year, a record attendance is expected with 530 participants from 29 different countries, including 146 investors and 71 distributors.

The event will open with a screening of Dragon Hunters by Guillaume Ivernel and Arthur Qwak, a fine example of collaboration between European partners, including production company Futurikon (France), in co-production with Trixter (Germany), LuxAnimation (Luxembourg) and Mac Guff Ligne (France).

Participants will also have a chance to discover recent gems of European production such as Fly Me to the Moon (Belgium), the first European film made in 3D stereoscopic; Go West [+see also:

(France), the latest adventure in the Lucky Luke cartoon series; as well as Jungo Goes Bananas (Denmark/Latvia/ Norway) and The Three Robbers (Germany).

Cartoon Movie’s partners include the EU MEDIA Programme, the German Federal Film Board (FFA – German film regulating body) and the MBB.
