Manoel de Oliveira to receive Career Achievement award

This afternoon, the Cannes Film Festival pays homage to Portuguese filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira, who will turn 100 on December 11. The tribute, which takes place in the Grand Théâtre Lumière in the presence of several directors, among them Clint Eastwood, will begin with the screening of Un jour dans la vie de Manoel de Oliveira, a short film directed by Festival President Gilles Jacob.

Afterwards, the Portuguese maestro will receive the Career Achievement Palme d’Or, just before the screening of his feature debut Working on the Douro River.
