Kosovo has the youngest population in Europe. At only 29 years of age, Kosovan actor-producer Arben Zharku has thus just been appointed head of the Kosovo Cinematographic Centre (KCC), a public funding body in charge of setting up a film industry in Kosovo. Arben Zharku is also director of the SKENA UP Festival, which he co-founded and has headed for the past nine years. It’s here that Cineuropa spoke with him to get a picture of an industry that is forging ahead despite the problems related to the country’s non-recognition by many territories which still restrict the circulation of Kosovan artists.
