Czech filmmaker Petr Zelenka, is interviewed during the 20th edition of the Trieste Film Festival, for the presentation oh his latest production The Karamazovs [+see also:

The film is about a Prague theatre company that arrives in Krakow to present a stage adaptation of Dostoyevsky's masterpiece, at an alternative drama festival to be presented in a local steel mill. A location he chooses because as he says, “I needed something very realistic for the play”.
When he is asked whether a director is an artist or a technician, Petr Zelenka answers that there are only two authors: the author of the script and of the music. The director isn’t an artist, because although he brings many ideas to the project, his role is to calculate and deal with time and money limitations.
