ficha de la película], directed by Tarik Saleh and produced by Kristina Åberg, was awarded Best Film at the 2018 Swedish Guldbagge Awards. The thriller, which scooped the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival in 2017, received a total of five Guldbagges at the awards ceremony held on 22 January at Stockholm’s Cirkus, hosted by Swedish actress-comedian-TV presenter Petra Mede, and aired by national broadcaster SVT.

The Nile Hilton Incident was nominated for eight Guldbagges in total, also picking up the Best Actor award for Fares Fares’s performance as a police officer in Cairo. The rest of the awards were mainly in technical categories, including Best Costume (Louize Nissen), Best Sound/Sound Design (Fredrik Jonsäter), and Best Set Design (Roger Rosenberg).

The second big winner of the night was Amanda Kernell for her debut feature Sámi Blood [+lee también:

The well-travelled and multi-awarded film – including Best Nordic Film at Göteborg Film Festival in 2017 – was nominated in seven categories and received Best Screenplay for Kernell, Best Leading Actress for newcomer Lene Cecilia Sparrok and Best Editing for Anders Skov. The biggest surprise of the night, however, came when Sámi Blood was awarded the newly introduced Guldbagge Audience Award, beating six other major contenders and box office hits.
