Based in London, director-writer Andrea Niada developed the feature film’s screenplay from his critically acclaimed graduate short film, made at the London Film School. The movie asks how far we can push the delirium of an isolated mind, deprived of any contact with the real world. Rachel is a teen who has grown up in a remote house in the woods, educated according to the principles of an esoteric cult which her family adheres to. Following the death of her father, Philip, Rachel’s oppressive mother Carol forces her to live with his body, deprived of any contact with the outside world, if not for a few brief, esoteric forays into the surrounding wood, convinced that Philip’s lifeless body will reanimate. But whilst, inside the house, everything unfolds according to Carol’s rigid rules, outside, Philip’s disappearance arouses suspicion, and the crazy tranquillity of their home is soon interrupted by Dan, a boy who strikes up a friendship with Rachel whilst representing a serious threat for her mother.

“We were drawn to this project from the outset”, SquareOne enthused, “because under the creative direction of Andrea Niada, the film has the heart and soul of a family dynamic, with a keen eye for instilling a sense of terror”. “This film is a collective work of passion, creativity and dedication”, the director stresses. The “captivating beauty of Calabria, with its rugged landscapes and wild woodlands, proved a real source of inspiration throughout the entire filmmaking process”.

The crew included director of photography Stefano Falivene (Still Life [+lee también:
