synopsis

The setting is 1942. Joseph is 11. And this June morning, he has to go to school with a yellow star sewn onto his chest... He receives encouragement from a neighbour who is a second-hand goods dealer, and taunts from a woman baker. Between goodwill and contempt, Jo, his fellow Jewish friends and their families, discover life in occupied Paris, on the Butte Montmartre, where they have found refuge.
