synopsis

Algiers, February 1903. There has been an uprising in the little village Marguerite where seven Europeans were killed. The sentence concerning the Marguerite rebels is about to be announced… She’s dead and he loves her. She is Eugénia, 30, the daughter of wealthy Spanish settlers. He is Jean Corveler, her husband and the rebels’ lawyer. Eugénia is unsure of the place she holds in Jean’s life, for there is another woman, Adèle. She also has to deal with Dolorès, the sister she adores and detests in equal measure.
