synopsis
Sixth Century. Claudius Rutilius Namatianus, a pagan wealthy patrician, decides to return to his native Gaul , at Toulouse, to see the destructions made by the barbarians in his homeland and his private properties. Rutilius decides to go by sea, as the consular road has been heavily damaged and is unsafe. The film is a free interpretation of that voyage, narrated in verses by Rutilius.
